This pattern shows you how to make your own felted wool cord out of a simple crocheted chain. You can use this chunky yarn/cord to make any project that requires a rope-like yarn, such as baskets, rugs and poufs. You can use this cord with any of my patterns that call for cotton rope - this way you can choose any color you like.
The pattern comes as a PDF file, which should become available to download as soon as your payment clears. This is not the actual wool cord! If you are interested in purchasing a finished ball of yarn, please contact me for a custom order.
Difficulty: Easy. If you know how to make a crochet chain, you will use that skill to make the cord. True beginners can learn to chain with the pattern. You will use your washing machine to felt the cord.
Cost: The wool yarn costs around $6-$8 per skein and it takes 4 skeins to make one ball about 35 yards long (like the ones shown in the main photo). It helps to have a mesh laundry bag and a drying rack for the felting part.
